Hi there. I’m Lindsey Ferreira. I’m running for Congress in Ohio’s 1st District because I, like many of you, am sick and tired of establishment democrats using Congress for their own personal, political, and financial gain.

They consistently refuse to fight for their constituents, they obfuscate, dodge, and gaslight the people of this country, capitulate to the republican agenda, and vote for Republican policies.  My opponent is one of these so-called Democrats.  He is, at his core, and so clearly through his voting record, nothing more than a Republican placeholder occupying a Democratic seat.

He’s bankrolled by AIPAC and a very open supporter of the Israeli government’s ongoing genocide in Gaza. He has doubled his net worth since taking his Congressional seat in January of 2023 through trading in the US stock market. He openly lied to his constituents, saying he “sold his stock to be aligned with the American people”. He made roughly over $1M in trades, and off-loaded a slew of medical stock before Donald Trumps bill came out.

All we have to do is follow the money. Numbers don’t lie. They’re especially honest when one can easily see that my opponent’s monies are sitting in mutual funds, and being handled by a hedge fund manager. The people of Ohio’s 1st District - and beyond, since we’re being candid, deserve a representative in Congress who isn’t just an ever-climbing, sycophantile politician. They deserve a leader who is there to serve and uplift the voices of both their own constituents and the people of the country at large.

Members of Congress are supposed to uphold their oath to the constitution and the office of Congress.  We The People deserve to have access to our representatives, we deserve to be able to have trust in our elected officials, across the board. That is what I am running on, and that is why I will win this coming election.

The Issues Facing Ohio

  • Housing & Affordable Rent

Lowering the cost of housing and rent through extensive legislative planning will be at the forefront of our policy priorities.

  • Healthcare

Every American deserves affordable, comprehensive healthcare including dental, vision, and mental health services. I will fight to let medicare negotiate directly pharmaceutical companies, and insurers to bring down the cost of care for everyone.

We must also create a public healthcare option that allows every American to choose affordable, high-quality coverage. This will ensure competition, lower prices, and expand access.

  • Social Safety Nets

Funding and expanding Medicaid, SNAP, TANF, WIC, and focusing on providing childcare. It is imperative that we raise the income threshold to meet the current economic demands of simply existing in Ohio’s 1st District. The creation and implementation of a step-down program for each of these issues will guarantee families caught in the cycle of poverty a chance at financial independence.

  • Veterans Affairs

When elected, I will secure and expand VA funding and services (including housing and providing for those housing-insecure veterans, and ensure disabled veterans who are on 50% or greater service-connected receive a living wage and disability benefits. It is tantamount to the survival of the VA, and thus also our military service members, both active and veterans, that we increase VA hiring by 400%.

  • Social Security

Social Security can and will be preserved by transferring it en masse to an independent trust.

Expanding SSDI incomes to meet the cost of living is key to a successful society.

A comprehensive audit of SSDI will prevent the small percentage of annual fraudulent claims, and expedite the application process in order to remove certain discriminatory qualifiers.

Raising the FICA income payment cap to $500k as opposed to the current $170k.

  • Education

The Ohio Department of Education cannot be written off. I will work to ensure that every child in America has access to a fully funded, high-quality public education from pre-K through 12th grade. That means holding all schools accountable to national standards of equity and excellence.

Quality education begins with quality educators. I support raising teacher pay nationwide, with starting salaries between $60,000 and $80,000, and guaranteeing strong retirement security after a lifetime of service.

Ohio was built by unions, and I believe the future of America’s education system depends on protecting and strengthening collective bargaining for teachers. I’ll champion efforts to build a stronger national voice for educators because when teachers thrive, our children succeed.

  • Reproductive Rights

Every American deserves the freedom to make personal healthcare decisions without government interference. Reproductive Rights include access to contraception, fertility treatments, right to continue pregnancy, and access to abortion up until Fetal viability

I will fight to restore the protections of Roe v. Wade at the federal level and pass legislation guaranteeing a national right to reproductive autonomy..

  • Voting Rights

Protecting the voting rights of the people of Ohio is very serious work. In order to accomplish this, stopping the SAVE Act is vital to not only our freedom as citizens, but also our rights.

When elected, I will push for mail-in voting nationally, and American citizens will be registered to vote as par for the course when they get their state ID, passport, license, or library card.

  • Student Loan Forgiveness

One of the top priorities of my campaign is to institute student loan forgiveness up to $150,000. Predatory student loan companies will no longer have a toehold in our state.

In addition to this decisive action, I plan to conduct an audit, spanning the last twenty years, which will include every unsubsidized commercial loan taken out, with the end goal of reimbursing every borrower who paid more than five percent interest.

Ohio boasts some of the finest higher-education and trade schools in the United States. There is no reason why our children should have to pay out-of-pocket to attend them. I would make it a first-term goal to offer free in-state tuition to all State Colleges and trade schools for Ohio residents.

  • Immigration Reform

When we talk about immigration reform, we must begin with the human story that families are seeking safety, opportunity, and a better life. America’s strength has always come from those who came here to contribute, not from shutting people out.

Real reform means strong borders and fair laws that protect both our national security and our national values. We need to replace broken, punitive systems with modern, humane, and efficient immigration processes that keep families together, ensure safety, and uphold the rule of law.

I support investing in smarter border technology, cracking down on human trafficking and illegal smuggling, and creating clear, legal pathways to citizenship for those who work, contribute, and follow the rules. We can have both secure borders and compassionate policy.

  • International Priorities

There isn’t an off switch for genocide. There is no negotiating away from it, once it’s started. What can, and will be done, is putting a stop to the genocidal regimes - these callous, dangerous, unhinged men who seek only to destroy for the sake of destruction.

There is no justification for the actions of the Israeli government over the course of the last two years. The constant bombardment has killed Hamas leaders, of course, but it also has slaughtered Innocent lives of both Palestinian and Israelis, and destroyed the infrastructure of Gaza and the West Bank making it inhabitable.

Until there is a ceasefire that sticks, and all responsible parties are brought to The Hague, an embargo, both capital and military should be enacted.

  • Domestic Corruption

I’ll fight to restore public trust by demanding an independent, bipartisan investigation into congressional insider trading over the past decade. Any credible violations will be referred for full prosecution by independent federal authorities. no exceptions, no special treatment. Members of Congress should play by the same rules as everyone else

Small Business, Rural Communities, and Farmers

Small businesses and family farms are the backbone of our economy and the heart of our rural communities. For too long, they’ve been squeezed by corporate monopolies, rising costs, and red tape that favors the biggest players instead of the hardest workers.

I will fight to lower taxes on local entrepreneurs and family farms, and expand access to low interest loans and grants that help rural economies grow.

Farmers deserve a fair market and a fair price for their work. I’ll push for policies that reward sustainable agriculture, strengthen crop insurance, and protect family farms from corporate buyouts and foreign land purchases.

Investing in rural broadband, infrastructure, and clean energy projects will bring good paying blue collar union jobs back to small towns and keep young people from being forced to leave their communities just to find opportunity.

America succeeds ONLY When our small businesses, farmers, and rural workers succeed.

A Pledge to Destroy Religion Nationalism of all kinds

We’ve seen extremist movements in many forms, whether it’s ISIS twisting faith into violence abroad, or groups here at home like the Q-Anon and the Proud Boys twisting patriotism into hate. Real faith and real patriotism mean treating people with decency, living by honesty and compassion, and standing up for truth instead of tearing others down.

Religion Nationalism has no place in the United States. The founding fathers made this clear with the establishment clause in the US constitution. When elected, I would fight to cause religious institutions and organizations espousing the kind of stochastic terrorism that propagates hateful ideologies to immediately lose their tax-exempt status. Further, they would be audited for the previous 20 years, and pay a default 8 years worth of back taxes.

But you know the old saying “a fine is only a tax for the wealthiest’s bad behavior”? It’s become more and more obvious how deep a truism this phrase is. which is why I support holding people accountable for criminal acts: investigators should examine those connected to extremist movements, and prosecutors should bring charges only when the facts and law warrant them.

Invest in community outreach programs is the only option that doesn’t leave room for the corruption, violence, and oppression we see every day across this country. The era of qualified immunity must end, as we have seen time and time again, that the police departments in this country cannot be trusted to police themselves.

Training for law enforcement needs to be a minimum of a year, preferably 2 years, and there must be extensive training in socioeconomic issues, race relations, mental health, constitutional law, and deescalation.

Police must be required to do rotations and be state and/or city certified in social work, psychology, child psychology, human trafficking, CSAM, and domestic violence.
